Osteopathy for babies and children

Infants · Children

I’m Léa Laskar, a French-trained Osteopath D.O. practicing in Jerusalem (Katamon), and I care for babies and children from the English-speaking community, in English or in French. Birth is a major upheaval for a tiny baby: pregnancy and delivery sometimes leave tensions in their body that show up as everyday discomfort.

With measured techniques, calibrated to an infant’s fragility, osteopathy helps your baby release those tensions. I welcome children at every age, I take the time to explain what I’m doing and why, and you stay right beside your child throughout the session.

Reasons to consult

When should you bring your baby or child in?

  • Colic, reflux, and constipation
  • Sleep difficulties, excessive crying
  • Difficulty sleeping on their back
  • Difficulty or pain with breastfeeding, tongue-tie, painful sucking
  • Flat head syndrome and torticollis

Infants

A session can be appropriate from the very first days of life, especially after a long or very fast delivery, or one assisted by instruments (forceps, vacuum). The techniques stay light: simple pressure and gentle mobilizations.

My goal is to help your baby release tension so they can nurse more easily - especially when breastfeeding is difficult or painful - digest comfortably, and settle into sleep. For two very common concerns, I explain everything in detail: flat head syndrome and baby colic.

  • Flat head syndrome and torticollis
  • Sucking and latching difficulties
  • Colic, reflux, spit-up, constipation
  • An uncomfortable baby who cries a lot

Your growing child

As your child grows, they go through many stages: learning to walk, teething, first falls, carrying a schoolbag, starting sports. Osteopathy can ease the tensions that come with these changes.

The session stays lighthearted, moves at your child’s pace, and comes with explanations they can understand.

  • Sleep difficulties and restlessness
  • Recurring ear, nose, and throat discomfort, alongside medical care
  • Digestive issues and constipation
  • Recovery after falls, support during orthodontic treatment

A gentle session from start to finish

Your baby is settled comfortably, most often in your arms or against you. I use only light techniques - no cracking, no strong pressure - and you take a full part in the session.

In practice, I start by observing posture and areas of tension, then work with small, precise pressure where it’s needed. Before you leave, I answer your questions and share a few simple tips to try at home.

The benefits

What these sessions bring your child

  • Techniques adapted to every age, with no abrupt manipulation
  • A calm setting where both children and parents feel at ease
  • Practical tips you can apply every day
  • Support that complements your child’s pediatric care
Frequently asked questions

You might be wondering

At what age can a baby see an osteopath?

From the very first days of life, if needed. The techniques are adapted to the fragility of newborns and infants. If you’re unsure, write to me: together we’ll see whether a pediatric osteopathy session is appropriate.

Is osteopathy painful for babies?

No. With an infant, I use only light pressure and gentle mobilizations, with no cracking. Most babies are relaxed during the session, and parents remain present.

Can an osteopath help with flat head syndrome (plagiocephaly)?

Yes, alongside positioning advice and your pediatrician’s follow-up. I gently work on neck mobility; the earlier we start, the more effective it is.

Can osteopathy relieve baby colic?

It can help some babies feel more comfortable, alongside your pediatrician’s care. I release tension in the belly and diaphragm, without promising anything I can’t deliver.

Can an osteopath help with infant torticollis?

Yes. Infant torticollis means the neck turns more easily to one side than the other. I gently work on neck mobility to help your baby regain range of motion on both sides, alongside your pediatrician’s follow-up.

Do I need my pediatrician’s approval to book a session?

Osteopathy complements your child’s medical care - it never replaces it. If a medical cause needs to be ruled out, I’ll refer you to your pediatrician.
