Lymphatic Drainage, the Renata França Method

Lightness, restored circulation, renewed comfort

I’m Léa Laskar, a French-trained Osteopath D.O. in Jerusalem (Katamon), and I welcome women from the English-speaking and international community for lymphatic drainage treatments, in English and French. This massage technique stimulates the flow of lymph and helps the body flush out excess fluid, without forcing anything.

I practice the Renata França method, known for its precise movements and distinctive rhythm. It’s especially popular with people prone to water retention, as well as pregnant women and new mothers in the postpartum period, when the body needs to feel light again.

Indications

When is lymphatic drainage helpful?

  • Water retention and heavy legs
  • Poor blood circulation
  • Hormonal or stress-related water retention
  • Pregnancy and postpartum (to limit water retention)
  • Menopause
  • Discomfort during hot weather
  • Aesthetic goals (cellulite, orange-peel skin)

The Renata França Method

The Renata França method is recognizable by its sequence of firm, rhythmic movements that always follow the natural direction of lymphatic flow. The treatment stays invigorating without ever becoming unpleasant.

From the very first session, many clients leave with a body that feels lighter, legs that move more freely, and a sense of relaxation that lasts.

What to Expect During a Session

Before we begin, I take the time to understand what brings you in: legs that feel heavy at the end of the day, swelling, pregnancy, recovery after surgery. This conversation lets me adapt the movements and their intensity to how your body feels that day.

During the treatment, you lie down and settle in comfortably, following the rhythm of the strokes. I work from the legs up toward the torso to support the return flow of fluids.

Some situations call for your doctor’s opinion first: phlebitis or a blood-clotting disorder, an active infection, a heart or kidney condition. We simply talk it through before you book, and I’ll refer you to your doctor if needed.

The Benefits of Lymphatic Drainage

By stimulating circulation, lymphatic drainage helps the body eliminate excess fluid and regain comfort.

  • A reduced feeling of heaviness in the legs
  • Less swelling and water retention
  • Improved skin appearance and texture
  • Relief from poor circulation and more comfortable legs
  • A softened appearance of cellulite and orange-peel skin
  • Support for comfort in case of swelling (with your doctor’s approval)
  • Support for well-being during post-surgery recovery

During Pregnancy and Postpartum

Pregnancy often brings its share of heavy legs and swelling, especially in the final months. A properly adapted drainage session eases these sensations and offers a real moment of relief. During pregnancy, the belly is never massaged. If you’re expecting, I also explain when to see an osteopath during pregnancy.

In the postpartum period, it supports your recovering body and helps it feel lighter again, at its own pace, alongside postpartum osteopathic care.

The benefits

Ideal for

  • Feeling lighter and more at ease in your day-to-day life

It’s a precise, rhythmic manual massage that stimulates lymphatic circulation and helps the body eliminate excess fluid, for a real feeling of lightness.

Does lymphatic drainage help with heavy legs and water retention?

Yes, it’s one of its most appreciated effects: it helps reduce swelling, gets circulation moving again, and leaves your legs feeling lighter, especially at the end of the day.

A single session already brings a lovely feeling of lightness. For lasting results, I recommend a series of several sessions close together, and we set the pace as we go, together.

Yes, the treatment adapts well to pregnancy and brings real relief for heavy legs. The belly is never massaged, and I always tailor the session to your situation.
